BAESIG co-hosts convention reception
BAESIG joined the other special interest groups of CalABA to host a hospitality suite for attendees interested in learning more about the SIGs and getting more involved with CalABA.
Despite a few hiccups, we had a fantastic turnout. Some of our board members had great discussions with behavior analysts from across the state, and learned that so many behavior analysts working in educational settings are looking to understand how their service delivery model compares to others — and how to make improvements.
Our board members connected with attendees throughout the convention, with more than 50 behavior analysts joining the SIG over the course of the weekend.
CEU event reaches 100+ BCBAs
Dr. Mark Dixon shared best practices for ACT and mindfulness within an ABA framework in school settings, via his AIM curriculum — and introduced the young learner version, hot off the press.
More than 100 people attended the Zoom event, earning a CEU and gaining valuable knowledge. Some attendees joined from as far away as Australia.
HCS All-Plan Letter — school-linked BHT
In November 2023, the California Department of Health Care Services (HCS) sent an All-Plan Letter outlining responsibilities for behavioral health treatment (BHT) for members under 21.
The letter — which includes ABA-based therapies as a BHT — says:
Lastly, if medically necessary BHT services are otherwise still needed, but the need is not documented in an IEP or IFSP/IHSP, then the MCP may coordinate any needed BHT services in a school-linked setting.
You can read the letter. It will be discussed at the upcoming member event on April 24 at 4 pm.
