BAESIG
BAE SIGBehavior Analysts in Education

A CalABA Special Interest Group

Behavior analysts in education

BAESIG is a professional home for behavior analysts working in California schools, county offices, SELPAs, non-public school partnerships, and related public-sector education settings.

What we do

We share resources, cultivate professional development, and build a support network for practitioners making socially significant improvements in educational environments. That mission comes directly from BAESIG's CalABA materials and is reflected in the board notes, member surveys, event decks, and resource planning documents in the SIG drive.

What members have told us

BAESIG survey summaries and planning notes point to a practical, school-based membership: experienced practitioners managing assessment, BIP development, consultation, staff training, PBIS or MTSS systems, and district-level behavior support.

As membership records are verified, BAESIG can publish aggregate regional snapshots without displaying individual member contact information.

Built from real SIG work

More than a directory

The About page should show what BAESIG has actually been doing: hosting professional learning, helping members share tools, recruiting and orienting board members, planning CalABA events, and responding to the practical needs school-based BCBAs raised in member surveys and meetings.

Professional learning for school-based BCBAs

BAESIG organizes CEU and member learning events around the work behavior analysts are actually doing in schools, including Practical Functional Assessment and Skill-Based Treatment, AIM/ACT in schools, ethics for school-based BCBAs, PBIS systems, and ethical AI workflows.

Resource sharing across districts

Our member and board materials show repeated requests for FBA/BIP examples, district service models, staff-training tools, policy updates, and ways to collaborate across counties. The site is being built to make those resources easier to find and maintain.

Connection through CalABA and member meetings

BAESIG hosts SIG receptions, member meetings, conference share-outs, and recruitment activities tied to CalABA. The 2026 conference planning notes documented strong interest from reception attendees and dozens of new member sign-ups.

Leadership and mentorship

Board notes going back to 2022 identify mentorship for new BCBAs in education as a recurring need. That work is now reflected in the member portal, mentorship registry, and board-supported resource structure.
